According to multiple sources on Twitter, the Rangers and the Sharks have made a trade with the Rangers acquiring AHLer Brandon Mashinter in exchange for Tommy Grant and a conditional 4th round draft pick.
Grant, 26, had spent this season and last playing on the Connecticut Whale amassing 20 goals and 19 assists 106 games. Mashinter, 24, played 13 games with the Sharks in 2010-11, but was held pointless. He has 54 goals, 54 assists and has 324 PIMs since the 2009-10 season and has dropped the gloves 21 times in the past 2.5 seasons.
This seems to add a bit of toughness to the Whale, but in the long run is rather insignificant trade for both parties.
